Clive McCarthy
Clive McCarthy MA was an invited speaker to AIGA national (USA) design
education conference 2005, Clive shared the stage with such design
luminaries as Hillman Curtis, Kimberly Elam, Ellen Lupton and Steven
Heller. As a result he has been invited back to speak at several
American institutions. His work has been widely exhibited over the last
six years. "The
effects of using practical analogue skills for image solutions and the
break away from pure computer design for both print and multi-media
which has been the vogue since the mid nineteen nineties is having a
marked effect on my work. The cornucopia of image processes such as
Polaroid, paper, film, photo copy, photochemical digital cameras,
scanners, computers and output devices, have and will continue to
evolve into a distinct but subtle blend of style. My subsequent search
for ‘image answers’ by using a wider armoury of low-tech solutions has
been a four-year research project in itself, technology advancement
almost out pacing the work."
